B Cool Pools installs Latham fiberglass pools in Wewoka, Oklahoma — family-owned, five years of pools on top of twenty in excavation, and a lifetime warranty on every shell. Roughly 20 minutes from our shop in Seminole.
Wewoka, a Seminole word meaning 'barking water,' grew from a trading post established in 1866 and became the Seminole national capital in 1877 when Governor John F. Brown had a log council house erected there; it was platted in 1897 and voted county seat of Seminole County in a special election in 1908. Roland H. Smith drilled the town's first commercial well, the Betsy Foster No. 1, in March 1923, and the resulting boom pushed the population to a peak of 10,401 by 1930. Historic employers spanned oil and gas, agriculture and cattle, plus manufacturers of textiles, brick and aircraft parts; the town remains the seat of both county government and the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma.
We know the area. Here's what's nearby — and yes, a few of these are also good places to stop on the drive home from a job.
Two things decide how a fiberglass install actually goes in your yard — what's under the grass, and who signs off on it. Here's the local picture.
Soil & excavation
Cross Timbers loamy soils over sandstone and chert conglomerate; the USDA 'Wewoka' soil series is named for this area
Per the USDA Soil Survey of Seminole County (1979), the dominant association is Stephenville-Darnell (34% of county), moderately deep to shallow well drained loamy soils over sandstone with the Darnell component shallow to bedrock. The Niotaze-Darnell-Wewoka association covers 17% of the county: moderately deep and shallow, gently sloping to steep loamy soils with low potential for urban uses. The Wewoka series' type location is in Seminole County about 6 miles south and 7 miles west of Wewoka; it is a sandy-skeletal soil grading from gravelly sandy loam to very and extremely gravelly loamy sand, excessively drained, with a paralithic contact on chert conglomerate at only 20 to 40 inches. Excavation planning around Wewoka should account for shallow, gravelly, conglomerate-underlain profiles on the uplands.
Permits
City of Wewoka (City Hall) - NOT FULLY VERIFIED
PARTIALLY VERIFIED. The City of Wewoka has a codified municipal code hosted by American Legal Publishing that includes Title 9, Building Regulations, establishing that building regulation is handled at city level rather than county. The official city website could not be reached (cityofwewoka.com returned empty content; wewokaok.gov returned HTTP 403), so no named building official, permit fee schedule, adopted code edition, or verified City Hall street address could be confirmed - two third-party directories gave conflicting addresses, so neither is published here. Seminole County states on its official site that it no longer issues permits, so there is no county fallback. Call Wewoka City Hall to confirm before publishing specifics.
We pull the permits ourselves — you don't chase paperwork.
