B Cool Pools installs Latham fiberglass pools in Tecumseh, Oklahoma — family-owned, five years of pools on top of twenty in excavation, and a lifetime warranty on every shell. Roughly 20 minutes from our shop in Seminole.
Tecumseh was founded in the September 1891 land run - one of only two land runs held for individual towns - and was named for the Shawnee chief Tecumseh. It was the original county seat of Pottawatomie County and a brick courthouse was built there in 1897, but Tecumseh lost the seat to Shawnee in a contested 1930 election; the present City Hall stands on that courthouse site. The city's own comprehensive-plan page describes Tecumseh as a bedroom community that struggles to attract a diverse economic base, and it sits about 5 miles south of Shawnee at the intersection of US 177, US 270 and SH 9; the Citizen Potawatomi Nation's headquarters lie between Shawnee and Tecumseh.
We know the area. Here's what's nearby — and yes, a few of these are also good places to stop on the drive home from a job.
Two things decide how a fiberglass install actually goes in your yard — what's under the grass, and who signs off on it. Here's the local picture.
Soil & excavation
Sandy loam over red clayey subsoil (Cross Timbers), with significant clayey, shrink-swell areas
Tecumseh is in Pottawatomie County, so the same USDA SSURGO profile applies: Stephenville (15.9%), Grainola (12.3%), Littleaxe (10.1%), Konawa (6.8%), Port (5.7%) and Aydelotte (5.7%) are the most extensive major components. The dominant Stephenville/Littleaxe/Konawa soils are well-drained fine sandy loams (roughly 9-15% clay, 55-85% sand at the surface) over red clayey subsoils, with low shrink-swell. Grainola is a fine, expansive clay reaching 47.5% clay with linear extensibility up to 7.5. Paralithic (soft weathered sandstone) bedrock averages about 41 inches deep where present, as shallow as 16 inches. This is county-level SSURGO, not a Tecumseh-specific spatial query - do not characterise a particular yard without a site check.
Permits
City of Tecumseh - Code Enforcement / Building & Zoning, Building Department at City Hall, 114 N. Broadway, Tecumseh, OK 74873 (405-598-2180; office 405-598-3911)
Homeowners apply for building, electrical, plumbing and mechanical permits at the Building Department in City Hall, Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. An application requires a sketch or scaled drawing showing all existing and proposed structures on the property. Tecumseh's codified ordinances adopt the 2015 IBC (Sec. 8-33) and the 2015 IRC (Sec. 8-216) with only three amendments, none pool-related - NOTE THIS IS AN OLDER CODE EDITION THAN SHAWNEE'S. Tecumseh's fee schedule is set by council resolution (Sec. 8-65) and is not published in Municode; a city fee schedule dated 02-03-2025 exists but its contents were not retrieved, so NO Tecumseh pool permit fee is published here. tecumsehok.org blocks automated access, so confirm current codes, fees and process by phone.
We pull the permits ourselves — you don't chase paperwork.

Tecumseh has no temperature-normals station of its own; the nearest long-record station with NOAA 1991-2020 temperature normals is Shawnee 3NNW Mesonet (USC00348124), roughly 7 miles north: average highs of 77.9F in May, 87.7F in June, 92.6F in July, 92.4F in August and 84.5F in September, with a January average low of 29.3F - a comfortable outdoor swim season of roughly late May through mid-September, and a 221-day median freeze-free season. Precipitation IS measured locally: the Tecumseh COOP station (USC00348751, 1.0 mile from the town centre) has an annual precipitation normal of just 36.70 inches - 3.6 inches drier than Shawnee only seven miles away, and the second-driest of the twelve towns. Severe weather matters here: NWS Norman recorded an EF3 tornado on May 10, 2010 with a 37-mile path, a maximum width of 2,200 yards and 28 injuries, tracking from 3 WSW of Tecumseh directly through Tecumseh. FROST LINE NOT FOUND for Tecumseh: the city adopts the 2015 IRC but no frost line depth value appears anywhere in its codified ordinances, so IRC Table R301.2(1) is unfilled. For reference, neighbouring Shawnee adopted 18 inches and the IRC baseline minimum exterior footing depth is 12 inches below undisturbed ground. Confirm with the Building Department before quoting a footing depth.
